Hiking tour from Serrada to the Rifugio Filzi

Easy hiking tour from the high plateau of Folgaria to Mount Finonchio (1,620 metres asl), the mountain above the city of Rovereto.

The high plateau of Folgaria is a true hiking paradise, in spring and summer as well as in autumn and winter (for example for snowshoe hiking tours). On a warm day at the end of September we decide to hike onto Mount Finonchio. We start our tour in the centre of the small village of Serrada near Folgaria and follow trail no. 104, which leads us into the forest.

After about 3 km of hiking through the forest, we reach the beautiful alpine meadows on Mount Finonchio. Following the signpost “Rifugio Fratelli Filzi“ we soon enjoy beautiful views of the high plateaus of Folgaria and Vigolana, Mount Pasubio, Mount Baldo, Mount Stivo and the peaks of Mount Bondone. Arrived at the Rifugio Filzi we look down to the Val d’Adige and Trento as well as the Vallagarina valley with Rovereto and Volano. Since at the end of September the Rifugio Filzi is closed on working days we have brought a picnic with us in our rucksacks.

This is a very easy hiking tour since it is relatively short and leads on a broad and well maintained hiking trail.
