Hiking tour from Molveno to the Brenta Dolomites

This short and easy hiking tour leads us from the Pradel highlands of Molveno to the Croz dell’Altissimo mountain hut at the end of the Valle delle Seghe.

In Molveno we take the cable car, which takes us to the Pradel highlands at 1,350 meters asl, offering breathtaking views of Molveno, its beautiful lake and the Paganella mountain range in its background. Having arrived at the Brenta mountain hut, we follow trail no. 340 in the direction of the “Rifugio Croz dell’Altissimo”.
After leading through a dense wood, the trail offers a spectacular view of the Dolomites before it gets narrower and closer to the mountain cliffs. We even cross a small tunnel cut into the mountain. Despite some fog clouds we can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Dolomites. After about one hour of hiking we arrive at the Croz dell’Altissimo mountain hut.

We are lucky enough to hear the last part ot a concert of the Coro di S. Ilario, one of many bands performing at the “Suoni delle Dolomiti” music festival. Afterwards we taste some typical Trentino dishes in the mountain hut.

From here, hiking passionates can follow many different mountain paths and trails into the heart of the Brenta Dolomites. After a short rest we decide to return on the same panoramic trail and enjoy the wonderful views before we take the cable car down to Molveno again.

Suitable for families? Yes, this is an easy hiking tour not requiring too much effort. Some attention has to be paid at the section near the mountain cliffs. Not accessible for prams.
