Sellaronda ski marathon

The Sellaronda ski marathon taking place on March 5, 2010, is one of the most challenging ski touring competitions.

March 5 is a key date in Trentino and South Tyrol, as this is the day of the famous Sellaronda ski touring competition, taking place for the 16th time this year. In this challenging competition athletes have to overcome an altitude difference of 2,700 m on a course of 42 km, of course as fast as possible.

The course snakes round the Sella alpenstock, connecting the Ladin valleys Valgardena and Val Badia in South Tyrol with Val di Fassa and Livinallongo in Trentino via four Dolomite passes. Every year another locality hosts the start and finish, this year start and finish of the race are staged at Canazei.
