Thanks to the wide variety of lakes, Trentino is very popular with divers.

Trentino is really rich in lakes and for this reason it is also a diving paradise. Wetsuit, diving goggles and oxygen bottles - and the adventure starts! Explore unique underwater ecosystems and its special inhabitants!

There are numerous different types of diving, for example scuba diving, also called recreational diving or sport diving, as well as techical diving, which is a form of scuba diving that requires additional or special diving scuba gear! Scuba diving developed from snorcheling and underwater fishing. For a long time diving has to be limited to the time people could hold their breath. In 1943 this sport was revolutionised by a ground-braking invention, which was the “acqualung”, the first diving regulator. Also the scuba gear has repeatedly been improved and made more practical.

Almost all Trentino lakes are suitable for diving, but of course also divers have their favourite sites, particularly because of the special nature of the underwater world, adequate infrastructure and equipment rental as well as the accessibility of the diving areas.

One of the most popular lakes for diving is undoubtedly Lake Garda, which offers numerous possibilities to submerge. Particularly popular are Malerba and Salò as well as Porto San Nicolò in Riva del Garda, which is famous for its historical findings on the ground dating back to WW2.

However, also numerous other lakes offer perfect diving conditions, as they are equipped with halyards to enable a better orientation, like for example in Lake Levico or Lake Lases. For this reason these lakes are also very popular with diving schools and clubs.

Also Lake Tovel and its fossilized trees are an attraction for divers from near and far. In many lakes it also possible to practice technical diving and ice diving. For these diciplines a special diving equipment as well as experience is required. Another lake that offers perfect conditions for diving is lake Caldonazzo.
