The three municipalities share the same history, ranging from early Bavarian settlements and the fights to become a self-governed province - the so called “Magnifica Comunità” - to the present. Traditional values are of utmost importance to the inhabitants. The Cimbrian language for instance, an ancient Bavarian dialect, is still spoken in this region, particularly in the municipality of Luserna.
The enchanting local sceneries with their woods and pastures bear witness to a rather recent past, the First World War. Fortresses such as Forte Gschwent in Lavarone, Forte Cherle, Forte Sommo Alto and Forte Dosso delle Somme in Folgaria are valuable testimonies of this rather mournful era of the past. Tourism on this high-altitude plateau is flourishing in both winter and summer. Here you can relax and embark on beautiful mountain bike trips or stunning hikes. And in winter a ski circuit is within easy reach.
