Pelugo

Pelugo is a little village inhabited by a few hundred people in the wonderful Val Rendena valley

The historical roots of the place go back far, but cannot be dated exactly. The little village is located at the border of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park in the western Trentino and is both winter and summer a popular holiday destination. Particularly at the end of July, when the "Festa Patronale dell'Angelo" is celebrated, the village is very busy.

Particularly worth to be visited are the two churches of the village: the parish church which is dedicated to St. Zeno as well as the Sepulchre church with the Roman steeple and the abbot S. Antonio. Thanks to the frescoes of the brothers Cristoforo and Simone Baschenis from Bergamo, this church is one of the most striking and beautiful churches of the Val Rendena valley. One of the large frescoes - above the portal - portrays the abbot S. Antonio.

By the way: The Adamello-Brenta Nature Park is particularly famous for its biodiversity - the brown bear e.g. has its natural habitat in this area.
