Cavalese

With its approx. 4,050 inhabitants, Cavalese is part of the “Maginifica Comunità della Val di Fiemme” and has always served as the valley’s main administrative centre

Cavalese is a popular holiday resort, especially in winter when numerous ski runs directly connect the village with the near-by ski area. Numerous free time and sports activities are waiting for you.

The Cermis ski area guarantees lots of snow and ideal conditions throughout the entire season. At an altitude of 2,000 m there is the so-called “Olimpia” run, featuring a length of 7.5 km and an altitude difference of 1,400 m. Cross-country ski runs are found both in the valley and on Passo Lavazè. And what about a charming snowshoeing walk?

Also in summer Cavalese provides a number of activities as well as relaxing days in the great outdoors. Hikers can look forward to numerous trails and paths and can discover the surrounding scenery by foot, bike or horse. The village is also rich in religious sites: the 17th century Church of San Vigilio, the Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta and the adjacent Sanctuary of Madonna Addolorata, as well as the Church of San Sebastiano with its spectacular tower, located very close to the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme - home of the Pinacoteca di Fiemme, one of the most important museums in the valley. In the historic centre of Cavalese there is also the Museo di Arte Contemporanea, an interesting museum that focuses on the connection between local traditions and modern artistic trends.
