Malosco

Malosco, a small village in the upper Val di Non valley, is of great historical importance

Situated on 1,089 m a.s.l. on a high plateau, Malosco is surrounded by forests and meadows. Different Roman coins as well as other findings testify that Malsoco is an important village from a historical point of view.

Especially striking are the rustic-style mansions, for example Casa Nesler, which features different frescos and the emblem of the Guarienti family. Also the parish church Santa Tecla is of great historical importance and dates back to the year 1228 AD. The adjacent chapel and monument were decorated by Wenter-Marini. A real historical treasure, however, is Malosco Castle, situated at the entrance of the village. It was count Gerolamo Guarienti to have this castle rebuilt in the 16th century. Moreover the area around Malosco is an Italian celebrity's birthplace: Fortunato Depero, the well-known Italian futurist.

Malosco and environs offer numerous possibilities for hiking and promenading, such as the Chiaset-Dasine and the Sedruna-Valle di Seghe circular paths, trails on which also alpinists feel at ease. The "Pareana" climbing wall is dedicated to the alpinist Marino Stenico.
