The village of Pejo is located at almost 1,600 m a.s.l., about 1 km far from Peio Fonti, a thermal village, at the sunny mountain slope and has approx. 400 inhabitants. The houses, built in the traditional architecture, are separated by narrow and partly steep alleys. In the village of Pejo also the Museum of World War I is situated, where weapons, tools and photographs of the once near located front-line on the Ortles and Tonale are exhibited. Behind the village the impressive 3,645 m high Monte Vioz rises up to the sky, which is part of the Ortles-Cevedale-Group.

Along the road to Pejo Fonti the animal park of Runcal is located where deer live which are habituated to come close to the visitors. At the Malga Talè mountain hut, easily accessible on foot, an exhibition about the birds in the Alps can be watched. For alpinists and ambitious hikers the paths to the Doss dei Cembri and Mantova refuges start in the village.
