Altipiano di Piné - Cembra

A small valley not far from Trento takes you to a plateau at an altitude of 900 m.

Gentle rolling hills, lakes, woods and rich green meadows characterise the area with the Dolomites towering high above. Contrary to the plateau called Altopiano di Piné, the Val di Cembra Valley boasts a deep basin created by the Avisio river a long time ago. Moreover it is known for its fertile soils and the oh-so sunny hills.

Exactly these characteristics render the area an ideal wine-growing region, producing high-quality wines and exquisite grappa. Near to Segonzano you will find a special natural highlight: the local earth pyramids, created by natural erosion in the course of several thousand years.

Highly popular are the Carnival festivals organised by villages and hamlets throughout the entire valley. In the night of Mardi Gras, the village of Grauno for instance cuts down a pine, covers it with straw and burns it at a stake.
