Nago
Located at the bottom of Castel Penede, the small village of Nago is found slightly north of Torbole and right along the main road towards the city of Rovereto.
The small village of Nago is situated above Torbole. If you walk across the village centre you will discover different picturesque fountains, portals as well as alleys. One of the most interesting sights near Nago is the Castello Penede, located on a rock spur above the lake. This castle, today a ruin, has been used for surveillance of the main strategic street to the lake. In 1703 the castle was destroyed.
Nago is a former citadel, which nowadays probably features some of the best preserved Austrian-Hungarian castles and manors ever. Most of them house a museum or arrange a number of exhibitions and displays throughout the year.
By the way: Here you may gain a fabulous view of Lake Garda :-)
