Mazzin 2009

Mazzin

This village, which is also the smallest in Val Rendena, is known as village of the “pitores”, the local decorators and painters.

This village became famous for the archeological findings on the Doss dei Pingui, where remainings of a Rhaetian settlement were found. Moreover Mazzin is the only village in the valley, which features a castle, the “Casa Battel”, characterised by a large number of decorative elements and frescos. Not far from the village, there is the beautiful Antermoia lake, a lake which is steeped in many ladin legends.

Those who love cross-country skiing, however, will love the Marcialonga ski trail, which leads you to Canazei and back. Moreover the village is connected to the surrounding skiing areas by a comfortable shuttle service, which brings you to the ski slopes of the Sellaronda and the Col Rodella. Mazzin inculdes the two localities of Campestrin and Fontanazzo.
