Val di Fiemme

Val di Fiemme

Val di Fiemme is one of the main valleys of the Dolomites, stretching along the Avisio river and in between the Lagorai and Latemar mountains.

From the very first moment you will feel how much the locals love their valley. This and their longing for freedom and independence led to the foundation of the self-governing “Magnifica Comunità della Val di Fiemme” in the 12th century. Literally translated as the “magnificent community of Val di Fiemme”, it exists even today and is for instance responsible for administrating the Panaveggio wood, one of the most important and beautiful woods of Italy and Europe.

It was only after World War 1 that the first infrastructures were built. Nowadays the valley is home to some amazing gardens and parks, spas and health centres as well as the ski area of Cermis. All this renders the Fiemme Valley a renowned summer and winter resort.
