Pelugo

Pelugo

Pelugo is a little village inhabited by a few hundred people in wonderful Val Rendena valley.

Pelugo has got origins dating back for a long time in history, but its origins cannot exactly be dated. The little village is located at the border of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park in western Trentino and is both winter and summer a popular holiday destination. Particularly at the end of July, as this is when the “Festa Patronale dell’Angelo” is celebrated.

Particularly worth to be visited are the two churches of the village: the parish church which is dedicated to St. Zeno as well as the Sepulchre church with the Roman steeple and the abbot S. Antonio. Thanks to the frescoes of the brothers Cristoforo and Simone Baschenis from Bergamo, this church is one of the most striking an beautiful churches of Val Rendena valley. One of the large frescoes - above the portal - portrays the abbot S. Antonio.

By the way: The Adamello-Brenta Nature Park is particularly famous for its biodiversity - the brown bear e.g. has its natural habitat in this nature park.
