Vigo Rendena

The small village of Vigo Rendena is situated on 614 m asl and is really proud of its name as well its origins.

Vigo Rendena, whose name derives from the Latin word “vicus” as well as from the valley in which the village is situated (Val Rendena valley), has got a long and animated history. The origins of the village date back to the Gallic period, in other words to the 4th century AD.

The history of the village is characterised by numerous fusions and divisions with Darè and Iavrè in terms of political and administrative tasks. On the basis of documents preserved in the historical archive, parchments describe the rules in force in the village of Vigo Rendena and the subdivisions of the territory among the nearby communities of Pelugo. The patron of the village is San Lorenzo, who is celebrated on August 10th.
