Ronzo-Chienis

Ronzo-Chienis is the main village of Val di Gresta, known above all for promoting organic fruit growing and traditional kinds of products and foods.

The locality of Ronzo-Chienis is situated at an altitude of 947 m asl, is distant 48 km from the province’s capital and counts 1040 inhabitants. The mild climate as well as the intact nature offer perfect conditions for any kind of outdoor activities. The origins of Ronzo-Chienis date back to ancient times, but there are no archeological findings that prove the exact date of origin.
The Mediterranean climate of Lake Garda creates conditions that are primarily beneficial for the agricultural sector – and this is of great importance in “the valley of organic gardens”. However, farmers from Ronzo-Chienis were the first ones to cultivate biologic vegetables throughout the north of Italy. The main types of vegetables cultivated in this area are potatoes, onions, leeks, savoy, cabbage and much more.

Organic agriculture and living in harmony with nature - these are the two main principles of the Valle di Gresta valley. The Mediterranean climate and a clear fresh air attract numerous visitors and are part of the sustainable tourism promoted by the area. And what about walking across the centuries-old trees of Bordala, up to Monte Stivo or to the ruins of Castel di Gresta?
