Cloz

Cloz, a little village at the foot of Monte Ozol, is a perfect place for a comfortable stay, offering a vast network of hiking trails in the surroundings.

Findings dating back to the Neolithic period and Bronze age testify that Cloz is a village that has got ancient origins. Moreover graves and tools have been found that are attributable to Roman times. Particularly worth to be mentioned are the two churches, the parish church Santo Stefano which has been reconstructed in 1942, featuring a baroque altar inside, as well as the Santa Maria church, constructed in the 15th century and restored in the post-war period.

Particluarly noteworthy are the exterior walls of the Clomper farm and the buildings Cisi, Mola and Marangoni. On the so-called “Dosso Alto” in the settlement of Santo Stefano, there is the castle of Sant’Anna, which is still very well preserved. Constructed in 1334, inside the chapel you can admire an altarpiece of F. Unterperger.

Moreover, promenading along the Novella river you come across an old mill. At Colz the tradition of copper processing is still alive and practised by local craftsmen. The produced objects are sold in the village.
