Nanno

Nanno

Feel the spirit of legends in the castle of Nanno, a legendary little place.

The village Nanno is one of the oldest villages of the Val di Non valley. This is what findings of Roman coins dating back to various epoques prove. Also a special ax is named after Nanno, this special tool has been in use up to the 8th century BC in this area.

However, one of the main attractions of Nanno is its castle, Castel Nanno, which has been established in Mediaeval times. In the middle of the 16th century it has been rebuilt. Outside it merely follows the princiles of the Italian Renaissance.

Moreover this is a legendary place, telling the story of two lovers, Melisenda and Ludovico, who both were immured alive, as they had a forbidden love affair. Particularly worth to be visited is the Santo Biagio church, which was constructed on the ruins of an ancient church. The church tower of the former church has been integrated in the complex of the new one.
