Tres

Tres

The little village of Tres has been constructed on three little hills. It is not only interesting from a cultural viewpoint, but also ideal for hiking as well as for those who love skiing.

The village of Tres is spread on three hills: Dos, which once upon a time was the seat of a fortified fortress, municipal assemblies were staged at San Rocco, while the third part is called Mimiela. In Roman Age Tres was a garrison, later on it has become a village of stonemasons.

At the hill of San Rocco there is a parish church, which in 1841 has been built on the ancient San Rocco church, destroyed in the fire of 1760 AD. Worth to be visited is also the parc “Prà del Lac” surrounding the church, as well as the Sant’Agnese church on the hill Dos. This church has already been mentioned in 1307 AD, it was established next to the church. The pecularity of the Sant’Agnese church is its shingle roof with two slant gables. In the 15th century it has first been restored and today it presents a great stone portal and several frescos of the artistic family Baschenis from Bergamo. Another worthwhile site is the San Sigismondo church in the little village of Vion di Tres.

In the north of the village there is Lake Tres. Proceeding towards Vervò you reach the Predaia high plateau, perfect for skiing and cross-country skiing in winter. In summer, however, there is a vast network of hiking trails attracting a large number of people to beautiful Val di Non valley.
