Transacqua

Transacqua

With 2000 inhabitants, Transacqua is not only a popular holiday resort, it also features the highest number of residents all over the Val di Primiero valley.

Where the rivers Cismon and Canali wind trough the valley and the Pale di San Martino mountain group towers high above, right there lies the municipality of Transacqua. It is from this position left of this two rivers that the place also got its name from, which literally means “beyond the rivers”.

Transacqua has always been an economic centre, above all due to the mining sektor, which was launched in the 15th century and exhausted in 1860. For a long period the municipality was also part of the Austrian Empire - only after WWI it became part of Italy.

Moreover the villages boasts a large number of apartments and villas. Several local farms offer typical products and delicacies, which you should not miss at all. Those who are interested in culture might look forward to visiting the San Marco parish church as well as the noble Palazzo Someda, dating back to the 16th century.
