Snow-shoe hike to the Valagola mountain hut

This snowshoe hike leads us to the beautiful Malga Valagola next to the eponymous lake, at the feet of the Brenta Dolomites

Via Madonna di Campiglio and Sant’Antonio di Mavignola we reach the Val Brenta valley by car. The small road proceeds to the former Brenta Tree Farm (Ex Vivaio Brenta) where we park our car near the B&B Pra della Casa. Here our winter hike starts. We cross the Sarca di Vallesinella river and follow the signposts to the Malga Valagola mountain hut (or Val d’Agola, no. 324). For the most part, the path follows the forest road which proceeds straight to the mountain hut and does not present major difficulties.

On the last kilometre the path no. 324 follows the stream through the valley bottom while the forest path proceeds uphill through the forest in 5 bends. Both paths meet again at our destination, the Malga Valagola hut. Approx. 200 metres from the mountain hut, Lake Val d’Agola (Lago di Val d’Agola) is located which freezes up in winter. After our wintry picnic we enjoy the fantastic view on the Dolomites before we go back along the same route.
